Filling a gap in business education for kids

Opportunity

Founders Patty Bechard and Carlie Hornbrook met while working as volunteers in their local elementary school. Parents to young children at the time, Patty and Carlie enjoyed supporting school activities and getting involved with the education enrichment program.

With over 30 combined years of business experience, they understand the importance of financial literacy and recognized an opportunity existed to start teaching kids about business at a young age.

Concept

Mind Your Business was established in 2015 with the idea of bringing business education to local schools. The challenge was to create a format and content that would appeal to elementary and middle school kids.

Patty and Carlie designed an interactive after-school program that uses hands-on learning to keep students engaged, grasp challenging concepts and build on what they have learned. The program met immediate success and was added to the school curriculum for the entire 4th grade at West Elementary.
